It is always fun to give original items a second chance to fulfill their purpose and it really adds to the experience

Both are ground dug (from the Eastern Front) but in decent condition

and resources were cut up by the allies

This is an older style case, by the 1930's more bulky briefcases had started to gain popularity although this style can often be seen in photos carried by enlisted men or officers. The two outer snaps are in working order but the main latch might be locked and there is no key. The case could still be used for light duty work or it could display very nicely.
