Antique Victorian French Guard Chain Gold On Silver Art Deco (1920-1935) Dating to circa 1860–1880This long antique French guard chain was crafted during the late 19th Century and is made up of knotted, interlocking silver rings, gilded in 18ct yellow gold. Guard chains were popular in the 19th Century and fitted with a ring clasp at the end so that a pocket watch or lorgnette could be hung from the end.
