The building began as Asahi Elementary School in 1975, closed after just eight years as the city's coal industry collapsed, and was repurposed as group accommodation by Yubari Kanko Kaihatsu Co., Ltd. from around 1994. The facility ceased accepting guests in 2006 when Yubari declared its fiscal crisis. Part of the Family School Fureai series.
